ABOUT NBC OLYMPICS NBC, "America's Olympic Network," owns the exclusive U.S. broadcast rights to an unprecedented seven consecutive Summer and Winter Olympics from 2000 through 2012. The 2006 Torino Winter Olympic Games will begin with coverage of the Opening Ceremony on Friday, February 10. Beginning with the 2000 Sydney Games, NBC presented the Olympics on NBC, CNBC and MSNBC. In 2004, from Athens, Greece, NBC added Telemundo, the fastest-growing Spanish language network, as well as Bravo to its Olympic programming platform and delivered the Olympics to a larger and wider audience than ever before. The 2004 Athens Summer Olympics were a tremendous success for NBC. NBC’s exclusive coverage of the Games was seen by 203 million unique viewers, making the Athens Games the most viewed non-U.S. Summer Games in history. "Even with the inclusion of some professional athletes, the Olympics are the last major place in sports where you can truly see meaningful sacrifice for a few moments of glory," said Dick Ebersol, Chairman, NBC Sports & Olympics. |
